Our board is comprised of talented individuals from diverse professional backgrounds and walks of life, united by a common goal: to educate and build a strong, supportive community for caregivers. Each member brings unique expertise and a deep commitment to our mission, working collaboratively to ensure caregivers feel seen, heard, and never alone. Their collective wisdom and dedication are the driving force behind our efforts to transform the lives of caregivers.

Founder & Board President
Kenny Markanich
As President of Capital Apparel, Kenny has four decades of apparel industry experience, providing design, merchandising, sourcing, and consulting to over 35 brands and retailers. He is also a National Geographic and Business Journals Leadership Trust author and won SEOPA's 2019 Excellence in Craft award. Inspired by his wife Jennifer's cancer treatment at Oasis Of Hope in 2019, he began writing "The Other Patient." Diagnosed with prostate cancer himself, Kenny gained a new perspective on caregiving. The Wall Street Journal featured his and his wife's cancer battles and his success as a 7th-degree black belt. A mentor for the White House-recognized Nashville Entrepreneur Center, Kenny is a Past President of The Kiwanis Foundation and Kiwanis Club of Nashville. He also chaired The Bootstraps Foundation's Development Committee and is a nationally ranked table tennis player.

Secretary
Emily Markanich
Emily Markanich serves as Secretary of the Jennifer’s Gift Foundation, where she supports organizational development, branding, and communications. With a Master’s in Transformational Leadership & Coaching and a background in leadership development, project execution, and creative strategy since 2016, Emily brings a heart-forward, systems-minded approach to building the foundation alongside her father. Her commitment to this work is rooted in honoring the legacy of her mother, Jennifer, whose lifelong care for others continues to inspire the foundation’s mission. Emily is passionate about creating thoughtful structures that hold space for healing, empathy, and human connection.

Treasurer
Herman Dick
Herman Dick serves as Treasurer of the Jennifer’s Gift Foundation. Herman has an MBA and a CPA and has served as a public company CFO. Since 2013, Herman has answered the call to ministry and continues to serve as a pastor in the Global Methodist Church. His commitment to this foundation is rooted in honoring the legacy of his sister, Jennifer, whose lifelong caregiving inspires the foundation’s mission. Herman has been happily married to Susan for 38 years. They have three adult children: Karl, Sarah, and Michael. “Jennifer and I grew up surrounded by the strong bonds of family, friends, and community. She was a woman of faith. I believe faith, family, and friends mean everything, especially when the trials of life come.”

Loretta McCourt
Loretta McCourt brings her passion for creating beautiful and functional spaces to her role on the board, where she supports the foundation's mission with a keen eye for detail and a heart for helping others. With a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Loretta believes that well-designed environments can enhance both how we live and how we feel. Her dedication is deeply rooted in the memory of her beloved big sister, Jennifer, who remains her best friend and mentor. Loretta is a devoted wife and proud mother of two sons, and she finds joy and balance in nature, cooking for loved ones, and the companionship of her cherished animals.

Susan Campbell
Susan Campbell serves on the board of the Jennifer’s Gift Foundation, an organization founded in loving memory of her sister, Jennifer Markanich, who passed away from colon cancer. Jennifer’s strength and resilience throughout her treatment deeply impacted Susan, exposing her to the inner workings of the medical system and the alternative treatments available to cancer patients. Susan has a bachelor’s degree in communications and currently works as a human resources manager. She is also a certified yoga instructor, with a passion for helping others find balance and healing. Dedicated to continuing Jennifer’s legacy, Susan is committed to raising awareness and supporting those affected by cancer.

Dustin Markanich
Dustin holds a degree in Health Science and has always been driven by a deep commitment to health and helping others. His mother Jennifer’s cancer journey profoundly impacted him, inspiring a shift in his career toward cancer prevention and early detection. Today, he serves as an Area Sales Director at Ambry Genetics, where he specializes in Hereditary Cancer Genetic Testing. In this role, Dustin is dedicated to expanding access to life-saving screening and testing for individuals with a personal or family history of cancer. His work is not only a professional calling, but a personal mission—one that honors Jennifer’s legacy and strives to change outcomes for other families facing cancer.
